Add WC as a program item in Program Manager. Distribution files: WC.EXE - The program WC.INI - Initialization file VBRUN100.DLL - Runtime DLL library README.TXT - This file WC.WRI - Documentation file WC_ORDER.TXT - Order form This program has been tested on the following machines: - Generic 12Mhz 286 w/AMI bios - Generic 20Mhz 386SX w/AMI bios - Digital DECstation 316+ (16Mhz 386DX) - Digital DECstation 325c (25Mhz 386DX) - Generic 33Mhz 386DX w/AMI bios - IBM PS/2 Model 70 Although the program has not been tested for it's ability to run from a central network disk, it has been used to manage network drives on a Digital Pathworks LAN (MS Lan Manager based) with no problems. It should be noted, however, that this was not a formal test effort, but rather, just normal use of the program. This program was developed using Microsoft(R) Visual Basic(c) version 1.0. It is a well behaved Windows application and should (theoretically) run on any machine that supports Windows v3.0 in at least standard mode. Definition of Shareware Shareware distribution gives users a chance to try software before buying it. If you try a Shareware program and continue using it, you are expected to register. Individual programs differ on details -- some request registration while others require it, some specify a maximum trial period. With registration, you get anything from the simple right to continue using the software to an updated program with printed manual. Copyright laws apply to both Shareware and commercial software, and the copyright holder retains all rights, with a few specific exceptions as stated below. Shareware authors are accomplished programmers, just like commercial authors, and the programs are of comparable quality. (In both cases, there are good programs and bad ones!) The main difference is in the method of distribution. The author specifically grants the right to copy and distribute the software, either to all and sundry or to a specific group. For example, some authors require written permission before a commercial disk vendor may copy their Shareware. Shareware is a distribution method, not a type of software. You should find software that suits your needs and pocketbook, whether it's commercial or Shareware. The Shareware system makes fitting your needs easier, because you can try before you buy. And because the overhead is low, prices are low also. Shareware has the ultimate money-back guarantee -- if you don't use the product, you don't pay for it. Disclaimer - Agreement Users of Window Commander must accept this disclaimer of warranty: "Window Commander is supplied as is. The author disclaims all warranties, expressed or implied, including, without limitation, the warranties of merchantability and of fitness for any purpose. The author assumes no liability for damages, direct or consequential, which may result from the use of Window Commander." Window Commander is a "shareware program" and is provided at no charge to the user for evaluation. Feel free to share it with your friends, but please do not give it away altered or as part of another system. The essence of "user-supported" software is to provide personal computer users with quality software without high prices, and yet to provide incentive for programmers to continue to develop new products. If you find this program useful and find that you are using Window Commander and continue to use Window Commander after a reasonable trial period, you must make a registration payment of $20.00 to David K. DiMauro. The $20.00 registration fee will license one copy for use on any one computer at any one time. You must treat this software just like a book. An example is that this software may be used by any number of people and may be freely moved from one computer location to another, so long as there is no possibility of it being used at one location while it's being used at another. Just as a book cannot be read by two different persons at the same time. Commercial users of Window Commander must register and pay for their copies of Window Commander within 30 days of first use or their license is withdrawn. Site-License arrangements may be made by contacting David K. DiMauro. You are granted a limited right to copy Window Commander ONLY FOR THE TRIAL USE OF OTHERS subject to the terms of this agreement, and the conditions described below are met: Window Commander MUST be copied in an unmodified form and the distribution package MUST contain the following files: WC.EXE - The Window Commander executable program WC.WRI - The program documentation README.TXT - Installation information WC.INI - Window Commander initialization file WC_ORDER.TXT - Window Commander order form VBRUN100.DLL - Visual Basic run-time library The only exception to the package requirement will be for online services and bulletin boards where VBRUN100.DLL may be available as a separate file and not included in the Window Commander distribution package. However, VBRUN100.DLL must be freely available with no specific fee charged for it, as outlined below. Public Domain Disk Vendors May NOT CHARGE a fee for Window Commander itself. However you may include Window Commander on a diskette for which you charge a nominal distribution fee. The purchaser of said diskette must be informed in advance that the fee paid to acquire the diskette does NOT relieve said purchaser from paying the registration fee for Window Commander if said purchaser uses Window Commander. Operators of electronic bulletin board systems (Sysops) may post Window Commander for downloading by their users without written permission ONLY AS LONG AS THE ABOVE CONDITIONS ARE MET. A fee may be charged for access to the BBS AS LONG AS NO SPECIFIC FEE IS CHARGED FOR DOWNLOADING Window Commander files without first obtaining express written permission from the author to charge such a fee. You are encouraged to pass a copy of Window Commander along to your friends for evaluation. Please encourage them to register their copy if they find that they can use it. Registration Window Commander is a shareware program. It is not free software! If you intend to keep it, you must register it. Remember, someday you might decide to get into this gig, so do unto others, etc. Upon registering, you will receive a license number that will disable the startup nagware screens. The registration fee is $20.00. Registration entitles you to support for the program as well as at least one free upgrade. Payment should be made in U.S. dollars to: David K.
